Visual Inspection

BINQ has an  Alberta Quality Program (AQP) with a Certification of Authorization Permit (CAP) issued by ABSA. Our inspectors hold multiple certifications including ABSA ISI-BPVPP, TSASK Class 1, API 510, API 570, API 653, and others.

Inspection services include:

  • API-653, Tank inspection and settlement surveys

  • API-510, Pressure vessel inspection

  • Boiler inspection

  • Pressure piping inspection

  • Pressure Relief Device (PRD) inspection

  • Installation inspection

  • Repair inspection

  • Closure Welds (as per AB-519)

Non-Destructive Testing

NDE, also known as non-destructive testing (NDT), methods are essential for assessing the integrity of assets without causing damage. Our NDE services include:

  • Ultrasonic Thickness Testing (UTT)

Using ultrasonic waves to measure the thickness of materials and detect corrosion, erosion, or other defects.

  • Magnetic Particle (MT)

Detecting surface and near-surface defects in ferromagnetic materials using magnetic fields and magnetic particles.

  • Liquid Penetrant (PT)

Identifying surface defects in non-porous materials by applying a liquid penetrant and observing the capillary action.

  • Magnetic Flux Leakage (MFL)

Inspecting ferromagnetic materials for corrosion, pitting, or wall loss by detecting magnetic flux leakage on tank floors.

Asset Integrity Management

Effective integrity management programs are crucial for maintaining the safety and reliability of your assets. We offer comprehensive support for program development and continuous improvement, including:

  • Pressure Equipment Integrity Management Program

Developing customized programs to monitor the condition of pressure equipment and ensure compliance with regulations and standards.

  • Tank Integrity Management Program

Developing customized programs to monitor the condition of storage tanks and ensure compliance with regulations and standards.

  • Inspection Test Plan Development and Review

Designing detailed plans and reviewing previous plans for asset inspections to ensure thorough coverage and compliance with inspection requirements.

  • Procedure Development and Review

Creating and reviewing procedures for maintenance, repairs, and inspections to ensure they align with industry standards and best practices.

  • Management of Change

Supporting your MOC and providing input to manage changes to equipment, processes, or procedures to mitigate risks and maintain integrity.

  • Chief Inspector

Our experienced Chief Inspectors provide expert oversight and guidance to ensure the integrity and safety of your assets. They oversee inspection activities, review inspection results, and provide recommendations for maintenance and repairs to confirm compliance with regulations and standards.

  • Isometric & CAD Drawing with P&ID Review

Completing field isometric drawings of CML locations or piping circuits. Additionally, we can review, compare, and verify the P&ID drawings to ensure that they are accurate and up to date.

  • Turnaround Planning

Planning and coordinating turnaround activities to optimize maintenance schedules and minimize downtime.

Precise calculation and selection of PRDs to ensure compliance with code and regulatory requirements.

  • Remaining Life Assessments

Assessment of the remaining useful life of equipment and structures to inform maintenance and repair decisions, prolonging asset lifespan and reducing operational risks.

  • Vessel Re-rates and Submission to the Regulator

Expert evaluation and recalculation of vessel capacities and operating parameters, along with preparation and submission of documentation to regulatory authorities.

  • Fitness-for-Service Assessments

Comprehensive evaluations to determine the fitness for continued service of equipment and tanks, including Level-3 assessments in accordance with API-579-1.

  • Design Review and Verification

Thorough review and verification of equipment designs to ensure compliance with ASME and API standards, enhancing safety and reliability.

  • Repair and Alterations Procedure Development

Development of detailed repair and alteration procedures in accordance with ASME and API codes, ensuring safe and effective execution of maintenance activities.

We are happy to discuss the potential for other engineering opportunities and special projects for our clients.

Risk-Based Inspection (RBI)

Our RBI services utilize advanced asset integrity management methodologies to assess the probability and consequence of failure for individual assets. At BINQ Inspections, we offer comprehensive support to owners in various stages of the RBI process, including:

  • Circuitization

Circuitization categorizes assets into circuits for streamlined inspection planning. By grouping assets based on function and location, we prioritize inspections and address specific damage mechanisms efficiently, minimizing downtime and enhancing asset integrity.

  • Corrosion Control Documents (CCD)

CCDs involve the development of comprehensive strategies tailored to your specific assets to mitigate corrosion risks and prolong asset life. Our expert team conducts detailed assessments to identify damage mechanisms, assess the probability and severity of corrosion damage, and implement effective control measures such as material selection and inspection techniques.

  • Corrosion Monitoring Location (CML) Optimization

CML optimization involves evaluating and reviewing the historical data, potential damage mechanisms and likely locations, material used, and inspection techniques. This data helps to determine the overall effectiveness of the current CMLs and whether removal or addition of CMLs is required on specific assets.

  • Data and Information Gathering

Thoroughly collecting and analyzing data to inform RBI assessments and decision-making processes.

Development of Integrity Operating Windows

Establishing operating parameters to maintain asset integrity and prevent unplanned downtime or failures.

  • Inspection Test Plans

Designing detailed inspection plans to ensure thorough and effective asset inspections, optimizing resource allocation and minimizing downtime.

  • Re-assessment

Continuously evaluating and updating RBI strategies to adapt to changing conditions and ensure ongoing asset integrity.
